Resist

Give us grace to resist the devil, and to renounce all his works and temptations. Guard us from the lusts and sins of the flesh. Shield us from the corruptions of the world. Make us diligent and faithful in our appointed work. Keep us patient under trial. In anxiety and worry, help us to find trust and peace in Thee.

Beloved

"The Life of the Beloved"
I would like to speak to you about the spiritual life as the life of the beloved. As a member of a community of people with mental disabilities, I have learned a lot from people with disabilities about what it means to be the beloved. Let me start by telling you that many of the people that I live with hear voices that tell them that they are no good, that they are a problem, that they are a burden, that they are a failure. They hear a voice that keeps saying, "If you want to be loved, you had better prove that you are worth loving. You must show it."
But what I would like to say is that the spiritual life is a life in which you gradually learn to listen to a voice that says something else, that says, "You are the beloved and on you my favor rests."
You are the beloved and on you my favor rests.
Jesus heard that voice. He heard that voice when He came out of the Jordan River. I want you to hear that voice, too. It is a very important voice that says, "You are my beloved son; you are my beloved daughter. I love you with an everlasting love. I have molded you together in the depths of the earth. I have knitted you in your mother's womb. I've written your name in the palm of my hand and I hold you safe in the shade of my embrace. I hold you. You belong to Me and I belong to you. You are safe where I am. Don't be afraid. Trust that you are the beloved. That is who you truly are."
I want you to hear that voice. It is not a very loud voice because it is an intimate voice. It comes from a very deep place. It is soft and gentle. I want you to gradually hear that voice. We both have to hear that voice and to claim for ourselves that that voice speaks the truth, our truth. It tells us who we are. That is where the spiritual life starts -- by claiming the voice that calls us the beloved.

Will

Luke 22:44

44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like
drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.

What kind of prayer is this? Prayer so passionate, so fervent, that sweat
dropped from His brow like drops of blood.

This is what He was praying for:

Luke 22:42
42 saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My
will, but Yours be done."

Your will be done

Throw

I discovered later, and I'm still discovering right up to this moment, that is it only by living completely in this world that one learns to have faith. One must completely abandon any attempt to make something of oneself, whether it be a saint, or a converted sinner, or a churchman (a so-called priestly type!), a righteous man or an unrighteous one, a sick man or a healthy one. By this-worldliness I mean living unreservedly in life's duties, problems, successes and failures, experiences and perplexities. In so doing we throw ourselves completely into the arms of God, taking seriously, not our own sufferings, but those of God in the world — watching with Christ in Gethsemane. That, I think, is faith; that is metanoia; and that is how one becomes a man and a Christian (cf. Jer. 45!). How can success make us arrogant, or failure lead us astray, when we share in God's sufferings through a life of this kind?

Hunger

852 million people across the world are hungry, up from 842 million a year ago.
Every day, more than 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes--one child every five seconds.
In essence, hunger is the most extreme form of poverty, where individuals or families cannot afford to meet their most basic need for food.

Matthew 25:40 (New Living Translation)

And the King will tell them, `I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[a] you were doing it to me!'

Dine

John 6:48-58

48"I am the bread of life.

49"Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

50"This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it
and not die.

51"I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this
bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life
of the world is My flesh."

52Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, "How can this man
give us His flesh to eat?"

53So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh
of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.

54"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise
him up on the last day.

55"For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.

56"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

57"As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who
eats Me, he also will live because of Me.

58"This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and
died; he who eats this bread will live forever."

Eternal life comes from:

Seeing

Believing

Eating

Drinking

Consuming

Eat the Flesh, Drink the Blood, Eat the Flesh, Drink the Blood, Eat the flesh,
Drink the Blood, Eat the Flesh, Drink the Blood, Eat the Flesh, Drink the
Blood…

We need to be consumed by consuming Jesus. As eating and drinking is a basic
requirement of our physical life we need to continuously consume the very
essence of Jesus, all the time, everyday.

Love is Enough,

Daniel
